Salla is French / Continental European nationality who ran with Redbeard until he was beaten by the 6th Phantom. In the Founding of the Jungle Patrol story by Lee Falk he has been drawn to look Asian in some panels but overall he looks more French / continental European in appearance and in his behaviour and mannerisms.

He is a master swordsman but likes to drink and party with women too often. Even as an officer for the Jungle Patrol his weakness towards a pretty women has gotten him into a few tough spots.

Nothing on his death or how long he stayed with the Jungle Patrol. Not seen in many stories past the 7th Phantom.
